Welcome Back To Our World!

This blog was created back in July of 2009 to chronicle the dynamic writing collaboration of three authors who have been online and offline friends for well over 10 years: Nancy A. Hansen, Roger Stegman, and Lee Houston JrIt is now August 18, 2013, and many things have happened to the three of us, with Lee and I both getting published in other areas, and Roger currently recovering from a very serious auto accident. But through it all, these little dragons were always on our minds, so much so that I pitched them to my main publisher. These are stories that deserve to reach a far larger audience. Thankfully, my publisher agreed!

The three of us writers met on the now sadly defunct Prodigy Internet Books and Writing Bulletin Board back in 1999/2000. We've remained very close friends and often share ideas. While the Companion Dragon Tales series started with some incognito posts by Roger about a mischievous little dragon named Waxy, they kind of worked their way around all our collective minds and hearts. The three of us now contribute to the series regularly, and we have created a extensive body of work.

In these stories, magic is an everyday event, though it coexists quietly alongside the mundane parts of the world most humans live in. Yet there are still places where trolls, elves, fairies, and most of the other fantastic creatures and beings of fantasy tales roam the countryside. And then there are many mysterious 'otherworlds', which are created by writers either so highly skilled their work is impossible not to believe in, or so bad their stories stick in your mind like dirty gum on your favorite shoes. When enough mundane people think one of these places actually exists, that otherworld becomes real. Picture a destination where commodities like chocolate or coffee support the economy, where unicorns and mermaids share room with ghosts in paintings and talking spiders, where a horse and buggy might be parked next to a flying saucer. It's a magical universe!

Unfortunately some very bad authors, along with magic workers up to no good, keep trying to plagiarize themselves into becoming omnipotent despots of as many places as they can overtake. The most highly skilled writers are also regular magic users, and they travel to those mysterious otherworlds to find new ideas for their stories, to protect the sanctity of the fantasy creatures and beings living there, and perhaps make a little money on the side. The luckiest individuals will have a familiar—a special creature to assist them in their work, and guard their homes while they travel. Of course dragons are the most intelligent familiar of all, and they make competent and useful companions. Well at least they are supposed to be competent and useful...

I'm happy to announce that our very first book in the Companion Dragons Tales has just been published! A FAMILIAR NAME is available from Pro Se Press! You can read all about it at the link below. I will have sidebar purchase info up as soon as I can get to it.

Happy reading!
~Nancy

Front cover of the book with artwork by Heidi Black and a very kewl logo for the series by Pro Se setup wizard Sean Ali. There are E-versions of this too folks!

Notice that Young Pulp label? This is the first book in a brand new imprint for Pro Se! That is quite an honor, and I think it shows a lot of faith in this series, to let it headline a new imprint.

The back cover has tells you just enough of what is in store to whet the appetite. These stories will all be ideal for children, but I expect that we will see plenty of adults snuggled up with one.

And there is that Young Pulp label, telling you that inside you will find entertaining action adventure tales for kids that won't insult their intelligence. Oh yeah, this is going to be big!

Keep watching this space, we're going to have more to share as we go along!
